Our first graders have been busy scientists this week, discovering how sound is made through vibrations! They explored by knocking on tables, listening to the sounds of strings on hangers, and making their very own cardboard kazoos.
It’s been so exciting to watch their curiosity come alive as they explored the science of sound all around us!

Our 5th graders had a blast painting pumpkins this week! A huge thank-you to Mays Farm for generously delivering the pumpkins and helping make this fall activity possible.

❤️ MVES Mustangs ROCKED red! ❤️
Our Mustangs showed their school spirit and commitment to making healthy, positive choices as we kicked off Red Ribbon Week in style!

Tomorrow is the Kick Off of Red Ribbon Week!

🩷Rock Your Pink! 🩷
Pink for hope. Pink for strength. Pink for everyone touched by cancer.
We love our MVES survivors - “We don’t know how strong we are until strong is the only choice we have. Every scar tells a story, and mine says: I survived. I fought. I’m still here.”

Rocket Habit of the Month: Habit 1 – Be Proactive! 🚀
Leadership begins long before the classroom — it starts at home. Families can help children take responsibility and make thoughtful choices by using the “Pause, Think, Choose” method. Encourage your child to stop, reflect, and make the best choice for any situation. Together, we’re building strong proactive habits that last a lifetime!

Operation Care is underway!
We’re collecting hygiene items to create care bags for those in need — and the grade level that brings in the most items wins a 30-minute dance party in the gym!
We’re teaming up with RCHS FCCLA to make this happen and spread some care in our community.
👉 Check the image below to see what your grade level is collecting!
Let’s make a difference — and have some fun doing it!

🏀 Mustang Basketball is Back! 🐴

Mrs. Charon Burton’s second grade class did an amazing job handling food box donations this week!
So proud of their kindness, responsibility, and Mustang pride.

Ms. Tressie's class had the opportunity to participate in a live reading and Q&A with Author/Illustrator Pete Oswald through Scholastic. We were able to draw The Big Cheese along with Mr. Oswald and ask him questions about his career, upcoming projects, and interests. We were even able to offer suggestions for upcoming book characters.

Hats Off to Abby!

2nd graders enjoyed a visit from Mt. Vernon fire department today to learn about fire safety. We want to thank all our volunteer fire fighters for their courage and bravery protecting our community.

Our first graders had an a-maze-ing time at Devine’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch! From exploring the corn maze to picking the perfect pumpkin, it was a day full of smiles, laughter, and fall adventures.
Thank you to all our wonderful parent chaperones and the staff at Devine’s for helping make this trip so special!
