First graders have been exploring story characters—describing what they say and do, how they interact with others, and how they change throughout a story. To wrap up the unit, students brought their favorite storybook characters to life by decorating pumpkins, writing about their characters, and presenting their projects to the class! A fun and creative way to bring reading, writing, and Halloween together! 🎃🐴🎃 #MustangPride

First grade had some pumpkin fun this week! Students tested whether pumpkins sink or float, used their senses and adjectives to describe the inside and outside, counted seeds, explored dissolving pumpkin candy, and more! ❤️🐴🖤 #MustangPride

Today was our first Lighthouse Assembly, led by our Mustang Student Lighthouse Team! Students played games and celebrated our September and October Leaders of the Month. Mustangs were also recognized for Principal’s List and attendance during the first nine weeks! ❤️🐴🖤 #MustangPride

Mrs. Lyndsey’s reading students enjoyed a fun filled haunted house room transformation day while putting their descriptive writing skills to the test! Students stepped into their touch-and-feel haunted house experience, where they used their senses and descriptive language to explain what they felt, imagined, and experienced. They had to think like writers and use vivid details to bring their experiences to life! Their reactions were priceless!

Mrs. Martin’s and Mrs. Tabitha’s fourth grade classes have had a busy week of exploring and experimenting! From pumpkins and spiders to candy corn, Pop Rocks, and vinegar experiments, students had plenty to discover! The learning carried over into reading, writing, and social studies as students explored related texts, made connections, and built their knowledge as young scientists! ❤️🐴🖤 #MustangPride

🦇 Ms. Hallie’s 4th graders mastered their Standards Mastery and earned an escape room in the BAT CAVE today! Every Halloween, the lantern at Hallowmere Manor lights the way home for trick-or-treaters, but tonight a gust of wind blew it out and scattered its five embers throughout the manor! Students had to solve each room, find the embers, and relight the lantern before midnight! So proud of these kiddos and all their hard work! They earned this one! ❤️🐴🖤 #MustangPride

Sweet success! Mrs. Shepherd’s class reached their October i-Ready goal and celebrated by tasting caramel apples and taking one home! Keep up the great work, Mustangs! ❤️🐴🖤 #MustangPride

Mrs. Callahan’s second grade math classes have enjoyed two fun, hands-on days learning about graphs! First, students sorted Skittles by color and created a graph to show their data. Today, they took their learning outside for a little basketball fun! Students shot basketballs, used tally marks to record how many baskets they made, and then graphed their results. These Mustangs are discovering that math is all around them—and it’s even more fun when they get to be part of the data!

Third Grade had a marvelous field trip to Regency Cinemas and Veterans Park in London! Students have been reading “The Wild Robot” with their animal adaptations unit and wrapped up their learning by watching the movie on the big screen!
