🚜🚒 TOUCH-A-TRUCK IS COMING TO MVES! 🚛🚌
Bring the whole family out for a fun, hands-on morning at Mount Vernon Elementary’s Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM!
This event is open to kids of all ages, but our elementary-aged friends are especially going to love getting an up-close look at some BIG and exciting vehicles! Children will have the opportunity to climb aboard, explore, sit in, and check out a variety of trucks and community vehicles they may normally only get to see from a distance. 🚒🚜🚌🚛
Because this is an interactive Touch-A-Truck event, guests should expect loud horns, engines, sirens, and flashing lights throughout the event. Families of children who are sensitive to loud sounds, bright or flashing lights, or large crowds should please plan accordingly. Bringing headphones or other sensory supports may be helpful for some children.
For everyone’s safety, adult supervision is required at all times. Parents and guardians should remain with their children while they are climbing on, entering, or exploring the vehicles and follow any directions given by our vehicle operators and volunteers.
The best part? All proceeds will help fund our Inclusive Playground at MVES! By coming out for a morning of fun, you are also helping us work toward a playground where children of all abilities can play, explore, and belong together.
📅 Saturday, October 17, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
📍 Mount Vernon Elementary
🚗 Parking: $5.00 — Cash only or checks payable to MVES PTG
🥞 Sausage and pancakes will also be available for purchase on site!
Come see the trucks, meet some of the people who operate them, make memories with your kiddos, and help us build something special for our school community.

On Friday, our first grade Mustangs enjoyed a fun-filled day at Barti Mae Farm! From playing with friends and visiting the animals to taking a hayride and picking pumpkins, there were smiles all around!

On Friday, our 4th grade students explored Great Saltpetre Cave on an exciting field trip! Our students spotted more than 5 bats and got to experience history coming to life as they explored the cave.
Students learned about the cave’s fascinating history, including how saltpeter was mined there and used during the War of 1812, and how the cave has been an important part of the area’s history for hundreds of years. They also learned about the unique formations and environment found underground.
What a fun day of learning, exploring, and making memories outside the classroom! We are so proud of our 4th graders for their curiosity and enthusiasm!

A Community of Helpers! ❤️
It is so heartwarming to see the ways our families and community members continue to show up for our children and our community. We have been blessed once again this week with some AMAZING community helpers who are wonderful examples of what it means to be safe, kind, caring, and dependable people.
The last two weeks have been so special for our preschool program! Our little Mustangs have had opportunities for hands-on learning and real-life experiences with people who serve and care for others every single day.
More importantly, our children are learning that they are surrounded by safe people who have their backs AND their hearts.
We are incredibly thankful for every family member and community helper who has taken time to visit, teach, encourage, and love on our preschoolers. These are the experiences that make learning meaningful—and remind us just how special our community truly is!
